Border Health Mission

FUNTOSALUD International is composed of students, professionals, civic and human rights groups - collaborating in the development of a strong bi-cultural alliance to carry out proactive work plans such as a yearly Border Health Mission.  This initiative originated in the Diaspora, with the need to elevate our country quality of life.  Though we are a young initiative, we aspire to building bridges of common good.  We are working towards building medical facilities along the border of DR/Haiti to host medical and educational delegations promoting healthy practices and disease prevention workshops.  The academic and grassroots dialogue projects in the US provide a space for learning and reconstructing a past that has been weakened by structural powers. The youth exchange programs and the documentary project is aimed to tell the stories of the youth by the youth.  Fist and second generation Dominicans and Haitians living in the Diaspora would tell the stories of their brothers and sisters living back home, focusing on their realities and struggles living under poverty and oppression.  Finally our socioeconomic and cultural development project is aimed at providing technical and training assistance to local grassroots NGOs increasing their community development capacity and promoting  sustainability, social capital promotion, as well as culture and folklore of the local people.
